The home story of Lore

Bart and Lore sure know how to get things done. In a single year they renovated their home, he trained for an Iron Man, and she started her second business. Now they reap the rewards from a tough time: after a hectic workday, they come home and relax. Take a peak in their light-filled home in leafy surroundings.

Child psychologist Lore followed love and exchanged her home town Brasschaat for the rural Essen on the Dutch border. Here she lives with her partner Bart, a triathlete and sports coach, and dog Nura in their recently renovated home. Lore: "An office space and beautiful view were the only requirements in the search for our own home". And these they found in this detached house that is bathed in light and looks out over the fields.

Lore and Bart signed the property deed of their house by the end of 2020 and immediately moved in. The house then looked different to what it is now: dark, lots of pokey rooms, an out-dated tile floor, etc. So after a few clever changes, they can now enjoy the lovely natural light and spacious feeling. "We demolished some walls and installed a Parquetvinyl floor over the entire house. Upstairs and downstairs. This makes our house seem much bigger".

The couple was searching for a nice, natural herringbone pattern and ended up with Parquetvinyl. Lore: “We were advised by GUVA in Essen, where they showed us various options. The Yukon Mistral turned out to be our favourite for its wood texture, plank size and colour!" Another decisive factor was that Parquetvinyl does not require an extra underlay because it is integrated in each plank. They also absolutely had to have a floor that could be installed over the existing tiles in order to save time and money.

Lore: “We didn't even consider parquet. Instead, we chose firmly for convenience, and we are still happy every day with our decision for Parquetvinyl. We don't have to worry about spills when watering the plants or when a glass of wine gets tipped over. Cooking spatters are cleaned up in a jiffy. And Nura's hairs are barely noticeable on the textured planks".

Lore and Bart installed Parquetvinyl upstairs as well. There they chose standard planks with the same colour and texture as those downstairs. The flooring was installed over the existing underground and extends throughout: from the hallway to the bedrooms, walk-in wardrobe and bathroom. Lore: "We were not consciously looking for a floor with a wood look for the bathroom, but the warmth - both how it feels under your feet and appearance - is now a big plus for sure. It turned into a cosy bathroom that's waterproof too. Just as we imagined it".

Lore is professionally very much occupied with mental health, and that seeps into her private life. So she begins the day with exercise: a half hour of yoga or walking the dog. Lore: "I also make time every morning to do some journaling. Writing down a few thoughts helps me to come to myself for a while".

Lore and Bart both have busy schedules, but it's not difficult once they're home to leave work behind and completely relax. They can live life to the fullest in their warm and cosy home. Where they relax.
